A Quick Overview of the US Green Card Lottery System
US migration trends have pointed to a steady increase each year in the amount of foreign nationals who have tried to gain access to the country, many of whom are incredibly interested in pursuing work opportunities in the states. The lure of a better living situation has attracted the attention of many individuals interested in what the United States has to offer. Unfortunately the formal approval process that not only allows for migration but also authorizes a foreign national to work in the USA is very involved and drawn out, requiring a significant amount of paperwork and investigation of the individuals that ends up taking a long amount of time.
One way that immigrants can be authorized to live and work permanently in the US is through the green card lottery. This system issues 50,000 green cards each year by a random selection process that gives each entrant an equal chance at winning. Receiving a green card gives an individual the permanent opportunity to live in the states. The odds of actually being granted a green card from this lottery system are incredibly slim considering just how many applications the US government receives per year, making it a somewhat unrealistic option for being granted citizenship.
Even with the slim chance to actually gain permission to live and work in the United States there are still millions of people who enter the lottery in hopes of maybe being one of the luck 50,000 who are randomly selected. With the number of applicants on the rise each year, the odds of actually be granted USA citizenship UK are steadily declining.
